Thicker than the average spoon! And, unlike mass produced spoons that just spit a sliver of chocolate, these spoons are A THICK SPOON FULL OF CHOCOLATE! Made from imported Callebaut Belgian chocolate, an internationally recognized producer of chocolate. Callebaut is the reference standard for chocolate in the world of Belgian chocolate-making. Contrastingly, lower cost chocolate spoons have heavier doses of sugar; very little if no cocoa butter. Instead a fat replacement is used so that they could bring down its cost. An inferior chocolate will feel almost 'gritty' on the tongue - not smooth and creamy as you expect good chocolate to be. These lower cost chocolates, in essence, are refined to only a certain point to keep costs down. Gourmet CoffeeXpress spoons are classified as 'couverture' chocolate - a very expensive, high quality chocolate that’s used to make upscale confections, truffles and moulded chocolates. What makes couveture chocolate more expensive is the higher cocoa butter content (at least 30% - 32%) and the longer time spent by a manufacturer (such as Callebaut) in the chocolate's refining processes.
